Diamonds are forever
Once Mango and I walked by bridal shops. We were tempted by the swirls of romance laced in gowns. We were busy determining our own perfect wedding. We were occupied in describing the engagement ring, wedding ring and anniversary ring. (Yes there is so many damn rings)
We were led on a wld gooseberry chase when Claudia dragged us through the whole of Taka looking for her perfect wedding ring. Then my hp blips, and the message reads, "Girl no more wedding. But I'm alright. Still got the engagement ring. :)"
Yes, it came exactly with the smiley face at the end. To begin with, I find it ambigious. Right from the start, the engagement ring caused the rift. Besides getting the wrong ring size, he proposed the "wrong" way. Actually, I didnt even know there is "wrong" and "right" way of proposing. That is, until she told me. On top of that, they've only dated for less than a year. A year of which they are at opposite ends of the world 70% of the time. The supposed preparation of the wedding falls on her shoulders. Damn me if I say I'm not happy that the wedding's called off.
Often we are so busy focusing on the grand day itself, we forget the motive behind this day itself.
Marry on the spur of moment. Propose on the high of love. Glide in on the heels of Jimmy Choo. Clad in the lace dream of Vera Wang. Diamonds sparkled from the ears and throat.
But what comes after the tables are cleared, the gown packed, the bridesmaids gone?
You are left walking the remaining of your life with someone you may not even wish to sleep on the same bed with. What then?
On the other hand, so what if you marry someone you think you really love? Is it even going to last?
Men grow cold as girls grow old, and we all loose our charms in the end But square cut or pear shaped these rocks dont lose their shape. Diamonds are a girls best friend.
